Join us in Iowa City July 4-5 for our 30th high school reunion.  There will be plenty to do that weekend!  In addition to the reunion events on the 5th, the Iowa City Jazz Fest (free) will be downtown, as well as the usual 4th of July activities (parade, Guess Who concert, fireworks) in Coralville, Iowa City, and surrounding communities.   Jazz Fest will have John Scofield and Medeski Martin & Wood as the headliners, as well as New Orleans brass funk rock band Bonerama and Middle Eastern-influenced jazz funk group Garaj Mahal. 

Friday, July 4.  Classmate Lisa Pilarczyk McDougall and husband Rick, owners of The Edge restaurant in Coralville (just up the street from the Marriott), have graciously agreed to host us starting at 7:00 p.m.  There is no admission for this event.  You may order from the menu at your cost and there will be cash bar.  We should be able to see City Park fireworks from the restaurant/bar patio.  IT WAS ANNOUNCED ON 6/19 THAT CORALVILLE'S 4TH FEST WILL GO ON AS SCHEDULED.

Saturday, July 5.

10:30 a.m.       Meet at West High (main entrance) for a
                                       tour.  Please be prompt.  Please RSVP
                                       on the RSVP tab at the left.

12:30 p.m.       Poker tournament at the American
                                      Legion until 4:30 p.m.  Prizes will be
                                      awarded at dinner.  There will be a $5
                                      entry fee to play; you may also attend at
                                      no charge if you’re not playing.  This will
                                      be easy for all skill levels to play in. Feel

  5:30 p.m.       Social Hour, 4-H Fairgrounds, Building C.
                                      To purchase a $25 ticket for the evening,
                                      click on the Buy Tickets tab at the left.
                                      DEADLINE JUNE 21.  Ticket price will
                                      increase to $40 on June 22.

  6:45 p.m.       Hog roast (dress casual) and cash bar,
                                      trivia contest, Poker Tournament prizes
                                      awarded.

  7:30 p.m.       Class photo by professional              
                                      photographer. The photographer will
                                      also be taking candid shots that will be
                                      available for purchase that night, or you
                                      may order them later via their website
                                      at a slightly higher cost.

  8:00 p.m.       A disc jockey will be playing music from
                                      our favorite eras until midnight.  As a
                                      hotel guest, you can arrange a shuttle
                                      from the Marriott to and from the
                                      Fairgrounds.

Registration.  To register, click on the Buy Tickets tab at the left. 

Accommodations:  We’ve reserved a block of rooms (West High Class of 1978 Reunion) at the new Coralville Marriott at $99 per night.  Reservations may be made at http://marriott.com/cidic?groupCode=whcwhca&app=resvlink or by calling 1-866-204-0539, and must be guaranteed with a major credit card.  Reservations must be made by June 13, 2008, at which time remaining rooms from the block will be released.  The hotel offers a shuttle service for transportation and may be used to the hog roast on Saturday. Hotel room rates include a daily parking fee.  Room rates are subject to applicable state and local taxes (currently 12%) in effect at the time of check-out. 

Online Book.  This website has an online e-book and it will be as good as you make it (see Classmate E-book link on the website).  Email me (ndavin78@yahoo.com) for the password if you don't have the postcard or email.  If you wish to enter your information and upload photos (optional, but please participate!), you will be asked to create an account to enter your information.   Please take a moment to upload “then and now” photos and write biography and do this today!  This will replace the paper book we’ve given out at past reunions and will remain posted after the reunion so you can keep in touch with your old friends.  The information is password protected.  

Trivia Contest.  Stump your classmates!  Bill Jacobson is organizing a Trivia Contest on Saturday.  Send your trivia questions (and answers) to Bill at cojake@juno.com.

Graduation Slide show.  An order form is on the Buy Tickets page and we hope to have these available at the reunion, but you must order in advance. 

Very Important:  If you’re not already on my class email list, please send me an e-mail at ndavin78@yahoo.com  with your current email address and I will add you.  This is the best, cheapest, and fastest way for us to reach a lot of people and keeps the cost of the reunion down.  I will send out updates as they happen.
